Drexel's Mental Health Resources

From academics to employment to life on campus, being a college student can be stressful. We are committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of our students. There's a misconception that you have to be experiencing a mental health crisis to seek help — in fact, we think it's important to reach out whenever you find yourself going through a rough patch. With a multitude of resources ready to help, Drexel students should never feel they have to go through anything alone.

Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body, and Drexel has the resources to support you in doing so.

Drexel offers free, confidential counseling services through the Counseling Center. These services include group, individual, and couples counseling and are available to all enrolled full-time undergraduate and graduate students. The Counseling Center also offers referral services to off-campus mental health professionals.

Students are also welcome to reach out to Peer Counselors for a sympathetic ear. Peer Counselors provide empathetic, active listening to fellow Dragons who want to talk about everyday aspects of the student experience. They are a good place to start for students who find themselves feeling sad, lost, or just need to talk to someone.

Besides counseling, there are other ways to take care of your mental health on campus. Students in need of a place to destress and recharge are welcome to use the Wellness Zone, a room in the Counseling Center equipped with yoga mats, sensory toys, relaxation sounds, and more. Students can also borrow a light box for light box therapy, in which a bright light that mimics natural sunlight is used to potentially affect brain chemicals linked to mood and sleep. These programs provide you with the tools to prioritize your mental health during your time at Drexel.

Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body, and Drexel has the resources to support you in doing so. Dragons are ready to listen — from professionals at the Counseling Center to your peers. All you have to do is reach out!
